Take time to smell the wildflowers

How often have you heard the phrase, “take time to  smell the roses?” The phrase means don’t ignore everyday beauty as you hustle about your day. Don’t rush past a rose bush when it can offer beauty, comfort, and calm.

The same may be said of wildflowers whom most discount as weeds. Some wildflowers are invasive, e.g. Dandelions. Even if they seem like pests, however, dandelions are important part of the ecosystem. The provide an early nectar source for many insects.

There are many more wildflowers that grow in to Texas that are even more beautiful: The Queen Anne lace, the Bluebonnet, the Buttercup, the Pink evening primrose, the Indian blanket.

Fortunately, I live in a place where there are several fields of Texas wildflowers. There’s nothing more relaxing that walking among the wildflowers.
